The MINNEAPOLIS SAINT PAUL 2008 HOST COMMITTEE (“Host Committee”) is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of visitors to our <msp2008.com> and <https://jobs.quickhire.com/scripts/msp2008.exe> Web sites (the “Sites”) as well as the privacy of users of the Sites. As part of our commitment to protecting your privacy online, we have written this policy to help you understand how we gather information about users of the Sites, how we use the information we gather and what steps we take to protect the information you share with us.
If and when you choose to provide us with personally identifiable information (any information by which you can be identified), you can be assured that it will only be used to support your relationship with the Host Committee as described below.
What information do we collect?
When you sign up to volunteer for the Host Committee or to obtain Host Committee services, you provide us with: (i) contact information such your name, address, telephone number, and email address (“First Tier Information”); (ii) your date of birth, traditional resume oriented information and volunteer preferences and availability (“Second Tier Information”); and (iii) personal information such as your date of birth, driver’s license number, social security number, race, gender and legal history (“Third Tier Information”).
We manage information with regard to your preferences and user logs. In addition, we may store your electronic mail and other communications as a necessary incident to the transmission and delivery of those communications.
We ask that persons under 18 years of age not submit personal information. In accordance with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), the Host Committee does not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and you must be at least 18 years old to volunteer or sign up for Host Committee services. The Host Committee encourages parents to participate actively in their children’s Internet experience.
How do we use this information?
We will use the contact information you submit and other information such as choice of services and user logs to provide or enhance our service to you in the normal course of providing service. The Host Committee may share certain aspects of the information you provide to us with other parties as follows: (i) We may share your First Tier Information with the Committee on Arrangements for the 2008 Republican National Convention ("COA"), a committee of the Republican National Committee and with selected partners and/or third parties to provide you with information about events and opportunities that might be of interest to you and also would provide you with system information or information about similar events, political candidates or the like; however, the application will allow you to opt-out of having your First Tier Information shared with selected partners and/or third parties other than the COA. (ii) We may share your Second Tier Information with the COA, but will not share your Second Tier Information with any other third party. (iii) We will share your Third Tier Information only with security personnel, including law enforcement agencies, for security clearance purposes. Other than as described in the paragraph above, we will not disclose your personal information unless we have reason to believe that disclosing such information is necessary to identify, make contact with, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing harm or interfering with the rights or property of the Host Committee, our donors, our partners or others, or where the Host Committee has a good faith belief that the law requires such disclosure.
The Host Committee also will not, except for the reasons stated below, disclose to third parties the contents of any electronic mail or other electronic communications that the Host Committee stores or transmits for its visitors. The circumstances under which the Host Committee will disclose such electronic communications are when:
- It is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the Host Committee or its donors or partners;
- It is required to cooperate with interception orders, warrants or other legal process that the Host Committee in its sole discretion determines to be valid and enforceable; or
- It is necessary to provide to a law enforcement agency when the contents are inadvertently obtained by the Host Committee and appear to pertain to the commission of a crime.
The Host Committee disclaims any intention to censor, edit or engage in ongoing review or surveillance of communications stored on or transmitted through its facilities by users or others. The Host Committee reserves the right, however, to review, delete or block access to communications that may harm the Host Committee, its donors or third parties. The grounds on which the Host Committee may take such action include, but are not limited to, actual or potential violations of the Sites’ Terms and Conditions.
Despite our reasonable precautions to protect your information (including your First Tier Information, Second Tier Information and Third Tier Information) from loss, misuse or alteration, you should recognize that there is no such thing as "perfect security" on the Internet. To help us protect your privacy, you should maintain the secrecy of any password you set up in registering for the Host Committee’s services on the Sites.
Use of Cookies
To enhance your experience with the Host Committee, our server uses “cookies” to store users’ preferences. Cookies are messages sent between the Host Committee and your browser, which are saved as text files on your computer. Cookies, by themselves, do not tell us your email address or other personally identifiable information unless you choose to provide this information to us by, for example, submitting volunteer applications, or requesting email alerts or additional information. However, once you choose to furnish the Sites with personally identifiable information, this information may be linked to the data stored in cookies.
Users may customize their browsers to not accept cookies. If you choose to not have your browser accept cookies from the Sites, it is possible that some parts of the Sites will not function properly, and you will not be able to experience personalized visits to the Sites or subscribe to service offerings on the Sites.
Policy Governs Use; Changes to Privacy Policy
The terms of this policy will govern the use and any information collected while the policy is in place. The Host Committee reserves the right to change this policy at any time by posting revisions on the Sites. Changes to this privacy policy will be effective at the time they are posted to the Sites. This privacy policy is not intended to, and does not, create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party.
